Framework removes complexity of energy procurement for public sector; reduces risk of contracts tie-ups with expensive ESPO, the UK’s largest public sector purchasing organisation is renewing its gas supply framework for a further three years due to continuing customer demand for the service.
ESPO’s gas framework helps public sector organisations including blue light services, charities, Government Agencies, local authorities and schools procure gas both cost effectively and compliantly.
The contract for the supply of gas on the new framework has just been awarded to Total Gas & Power who will facilitate the provision of the gas, read meters and offer site work services. Total was awarded as provider on this framework due to its track record, financial stability, and technical and professional ability.
With the price of energy extremely volatile, ESPO uses a flexible, aggregated, risk management approach to the procurement of energy and has its own trading team who monitor the price of gas and make decisions on when to buy depending on market conditions.
ESPO has been procuring public sector organisations’ energy supplies for over 20 years and recognises that it can a very complex process for its customers to buy directly. Procuring gas via ESPO’s framework removes the labour-intensive task of researching potential suppliers’ energy deals for hard-pressed public sector organisations who have the added reassurances that they are getting their energy at best price, it is being delivered by an ESPO approved supplier and they have access to its dedicated customer service team from both the supplier and ESPO.
The framework is also compliant with EU and UK procurement regulations-compliant so customers do not need to run a full EU tender to procure their gas supplies.

ESPO plans to contact the framework’s existing customers to invite them all to re-join the framework and assist any new customers in joining it.
